Movie Night

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Something about Saturday night just demands going to the movies.Movies are still a great date activity, they are still fun after you get married, and sometimes the right movie is perfect for a boys night out or a girls night out.

This weekend has a couple of interesting titles playing at the multiplex near my house. But I’m really looking forward to the new Star Wars movie coming out this month. Right after that is the new Terminator movie.

From what I hear, this summer will have a whole batch of blockbuster hits. Soif you are a movie fan, I’ll see you at the movies.

Paul Bunyan Day

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

One of my favorite childhood stories was of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox “Babe”. I was glad to hear there is a day to recognize the tales of legend and his heroic feats. Paul did many deeds in his life including the clearing of North and South Dakota for farming, Creating Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes with his footprints, and scooping out the Great lakes in order to better water his pet ox.

I am glad to be reminded of this giant of a man and his great deeds. I will be sure to pass along the legend to my children and hope they will continue the tradition by passing it along to theirs.

Fined Monopoly

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

In today’s USA Today paper is says that Intel was fined a record breaking amount of $1.45 Billion dollars for illegal monopolistic business practices in Europe. I cannot image having over a Billion dollars available in the bank to pay such a huge fine. But it is obvious that Europe takes this type of thing very seriously. American companies need to learn how to do business in other countries without using all the same shady practices they get away with here in the U.S.

Another Rainey Weekend

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

It really stinks to work hard all week and look forward to a big weekend full of plans for outdoor fun and then have it all ruined by two days of rain.

Every weekend in May and the rest of the summer months ahead has a variety of fun things to do outside, from fishing to races and tons of festivals and sporting events.

Yesterday I had to stay in and got a lot of chores done instead of having fun. I was hoping to go to a baseball game this afternoon, but thunder and lightning will keep me indoors instead. I guess I’ll do some paperwork and surf the internet for a while, then break out a good book and read for a few hours.
