Paris and Bush meat

Friday, June 25th, 2010

The city of Paris has long been known for its cuisine. This time, the menu is a little bit different than you may expect. Due to the growing African population in the city, bush meat is being imported in surprising levels. Experts say the illegal trade is growing and is a danger to wild populations of animals.

Such animals as rats, monkeys, crocodiles, and anteaters are being brought into the city. They carcasses are usually dried and are sold at markets under the table. Experts worry that the animals present a danger to public health as well. Bacteria and Ebola viruses can be found in these animals and could be a grave health concern. I hope this practice is soon stopped!

Four in one!

One thing my family and I love to do is go out to eat. The problem is that we are fairly new to the area and don’t know where everything is as yet. We know there are restaurants out there; we just don’t know the best ones for us. I was looking for a solution to the problem when I heard about a website that can direct us to the best local restaurants. The site is called local.com and here is how it works.

The site is a search engine. The good thing about it is that it is a combination of four different sites, each of which contributes to the whole. The site is a conglomeration of Citysearch.com, Superpages.com, Yellowpages.com, and Yelp.com. When accessing the site, you can utilize the local yellowpages to find phone numbers, or use the local search feature to find local area businesses.

Now that I have been using the site, I save a lot of time choosing where I want to go. The old method of trial and error is out, and the new way is in. I also like the fact that I am supporting my local area businesses and building the economy in my area. The whole thing has been a win-win situation for me and my family.

Open Champ

Congratulations to Graeme McDowell who is the champion of the 2010 U.S.Open. After an exciting four days of ups and downs for the field, he emerged at the top of the field on Sunday. He stood on the 18 green and took it all in after realizing that he was going to join the long list of famous names who have won the tournament.

Tiger Woods finished tied for fourth with Phil Mickelson. The field struggled with the windy conditions throughout the tournament. It was a victory that was well deserved and I hope he enjoys it!

Important asset

There are many ways that we protect ourselves every day. One thing we do is wear seatbelts. Another thing we do is to make sure that we have insurance. It is an important step in making sure we are protected against the many things that life throws us unexpectedly. That’s why I wanted to ensure that my cousin was protected when she recently moved.

My cousin Pam was recently married. She and her husband decided to start over in another state. I was glad to help them select some Massachusetts home insurance for their new home. After checking out the situation, I found a site on the internet called berryinsurance.com that provided the protection they needed. It was nice to know they were off to a good start.

Since I was on the site anyway, I decided to check it out further. I found that this company could provide Massachusetts auto insurance as well as Massachusetts business insurance. These would be valuable assets to have in case of an emergency. I had heard from some friends of mine that this was a reputable company and that was important to me. Now that everything is settled, it is good to know that my cousin is ready for just about any kind of emergency.

Dogs gone wild

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Every now and then you hear a story that is just odd. I heard one today that describes the troubles of a will, three dogs, and a son. It seems that Ms. Posner had died in March. She was very rich and had an 8.3 million dollar mansion. She also had three dogs that were spoiled to the extreme point. When she died, she left the money for the care of the dogs and gave her son only 1 million dollars.

As may be assumed, the son is suing in court to gain control of the money he feels is rightfully his. The outcome of the case has yet to be determined, but many believe that the son will win out in the end and the dogs will be in the doghouse!!
