There are plans being made to raise the CSS Georgia. The ship has been on the bottom of the Savannah River for nearly 150 years. Officials want to raise the ship because it stands in the way of dredging machines needed to deepen the channel. The estimated cost will be about 14 million dollars.

The Georgia was a confederate iron clad used to protect the harbor near Fort Jackson.
The ship was scuttled by its crew in order to prevent its capture by Union Troops. Officials are still unclear as to what will happen to the ship when it is raised, but many believe it will end up in a museum somewhere.

The baseball fields were slammed on a spring Saturday morning. The moms were gathering in regular fashion with packed coolers ready to watch the tournaments all day. It was a gorgeous day and a great time to catch up with my “mom” friends. We had a new mom in the group who was new to the area as well. I quickly befriended her and learned her move had not been a simple one and now that she had settled in, she was ready to get some advice on the things she could change. One of which was her electricity provider. The customer support she had been receiving was less than acceptable and many of us moms suggested she log onto www.texaselectricityproviders.com/ and check out the options available in our region of Texas. Most of us had been in the area for quite some time and was happy to offer advice to any new comers while relaxing at the ball fields. I think she left there feeling much better her options but not much better about our team who lost.

Guest post written by my buddy Keith Kramer

Over the past couple of months, I have picked up a new physical activity, hot yoga. I have practiced on and off for about a year, but it’s not until recently that I have consistently gone twice a week. I will admit that sometimes it’s hard to pry myself from in front of my Direct TV and go, but once I’m there, I’m so happy I did. I have tried other kinds of yoga in the past, but the problem is that since I am not naturally flexible, I don’t get as much out of it. With hot yoga, the room is heated between 95 and 100 degrees, which allows my body to bend a little better. I go to two different studios because they both offer $5 classes at various times throughout the day. One studio has more morning classes available and one has more evening and weekend. Conveniently, the studio that is closest to my house has the morning classes. It is way too expensive to actually have a monthly membership, so I’m happy that these classes are an option. I find them much better than any yoga classes that I have taken at my gym.

I heard a story about a man who has hit the million dollar lottery twice over the last three years. His name is Delma Kinney and he is 50 years old. This is a very lucky man. He plans to give away some of the money he won and he can because after all, he hit the lottery before. I would wish him good luck, but apparently he doesn’t need it.

One thing that I am pretty fussy about is the clothes that I wear. I like what I like and will not wear anything else. Anyone who tries to buy me clothes for a birthday or Christmas knows that there is a good chance I will not wear them. That’s just the way it is. That’s why I was surprised when I opened a present from my wife that had clothes in it. I knew this would be interesting.

It turns out that I actually liked these clothes. There were two pairs of mens lab coats that looked really cool. I could tell they were of high quality and would be comfortable to wear. I was surprised that they fit so well as she usually gets me they wrong size. I asked her where she had gotten the clothes and she led me to the computer and showed me a site called http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/. It truly was a Christmas miracle.

I have decided to make a rare exception and keep the clothes I was given. I think I would still prefer to purchase my own clothes but I guess that I could use a little help now and then. I’ll just have to see what the future brings on this sensitive subject.

Thanks for the post, Kathy Shelton

There is nothing like a good action movie. While there are many great action stars out there, I personally enjoy Matt Damon’s work in the Jason Bourne Trilogy.

Recently, I was in the mood for a good action flick, so I began searching the channels. The Bourne Ultimatum was on. I had not seen the movie in a while, so I decided to sit down and watch it on http://www.directstartv.com. Halfway through the movie, I found myself wishing I was a highly trained CIA operative that could take down a man in half a second. I watched, as Bourne sped through crowded streets being chased by the police, and I knew that if I was given the chance, I could drive like that too.

I was just about ready to change my career plans and begin applying to be an agent, when Bourne jumps off a building and lands into freezing water a hundred feet below. Suddenly, reality began to sink back in. I wouldn’t last five minutes as a CIA agent. I start complaining if it is too hot outside. What would happen when people started punching me? As I watched Matt Damon jump off that building into the water below, I decided that I would leave the adventure to Jason Bourne.

It turns out that Dolly Parton was born on the same day as I. At least I have some good company in that category. Some other famous Capricorns are David Bowie, Nicholas Cage, and Jimmy Page.

One thing I love to do is to get out on the water in a boat. I like to fish, but I don’t necessarily have to. Just being on the water and seeing the sunlight on the waves as we make our way down the river is a joy to me. Being with the family is another aspect I like. The kids enjoy the outdoors and I like the fact that I am helping them learn to appreciate Mother Nature.

I would like to get a bigger boat sometime in the future, but for now I am happy with the one I have. It’s never left me stranded and that’s something that I like. I hope we can spend many hours on the water this year.
