Happy Holidays!!!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

It’s that special time of year again when the whole family gets together. The Thanksgiving Holidays are always a special time for our family as we all enjoy the time we get to spend with each other catching upon the latest news. Another aspect of this particular holiday I like is to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

I love to wake up and watch the floats go by and the marching bands play. I am always reminded of the many characters that have touched our lives and become a part of the American culture. Well, I got to go eat and so I just wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!

The phone call

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

My mom called the other day and we got to talking. I didn’t realize it at the time, but we spent two hours on the phone. I guess we had a lot of catching up to do. It’s funny how time can get away from you when you are doing something interesting. I know it must sound funny that talking with my mom is interesting, but I guess it was.

I remember when I first had a girlfriend; we used to talk deep into the night. I don’t really remember anything that we specifically talked about, but it must have kept me busy. I guess that’s the way phone calls go. Some are short and some are long!

Get it done!

One thing I like to pass on to my kids is the work ethic that my father taught me. When I was young, we were worked to death by my father. We did all manner of odd jobs in addition to our daily chores. There was never a day when we lacked something to do. I was not always happy at the time, but now I understand the value of this lesson.

Whenever possible, I try to make my own kids earn their keep and do the chores that I assign. I believe that a good work ethic will benefit them in the long run. No one likes a lazy bum and if I can help it, no one will say that about my kids!

Happy father’s day Dad!

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

I just wanted to give a little history on the origins of Father’s day. The original idea came from a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd who wanted to honor her dad as well as all the dads out there. The day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June every year.

To my Dad I just wanted to let him know that I love him so much! My dad is always kind and generous to all the people he meets. He has been able to raise his children with the help of mom and we all turned out pretty good. Way to go Dad!
