Old Fashioned Remedies Still Work

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

When you have a large family like I do, it seems here are a lot of memories of kids getting sick or being hurt. I know my folks had more than their share of doctor visits for us kids. We all got the measles at the same time, and we all got the chicken pox, although that was spread out over many years. My sister got pneumonia once, and we had to use a Vaporizer in her bedroom to help her breathe.

I guess we always thought that Vaporizers were just for babies, but it tuns out that all ages can benefit from them. I know my sister had to use one for almost to months – she was so sick that she didn’t come out of her room for a long time, and she almost failed school because she missed so much class time.

Now, that same sister has kids and she swears by the Volcano Vaporizer that she got when her son was sick with bronchitis. She also uses it to help when she has spring time allergy attacks. It seems that after all these years and all the news things the doctors can do today, that sometimes the old fashioned remedies still work the best.

Blame the Armadillos

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Read an interesting report on the Yahoo Science page this morning. Scientists have traced the DNA of many recent leprosy cases and have proven that the disease was transmitted from armadillos. A relatively rare condition in today’s world, leprosy is very contagious and difficult to treat.

Armadillos are very common throughout Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, but have been seen in neighboring states, such as Oklahoma, Mississippi and even Tennessee. Officials are warning people to not handle armadillos, even if dead, to avoid the risk of contracting leprosy.

Animal testing

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

There has been quite a stir in the news lately about whether or not it is ethical to use animals for research purposes. Some researchers have stated that animal testing is the only way to bring medicines to the market in a timely manner. Without it, people would die.

On the other hand, animal rights activists say that using animals for research is cruel and inhumane. They vow not to use any drug that comes from animal testing. The government says that testing is highly regulated and that the animals are treated humanely. I guess the debate will go on for quite awhile yet.

A Short Life

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

There are a few things in life that are very important. Your health is probably the most important thing of all. That’s why it’s good to have regular check-ups with your doctor. The problem is that it can be an expensive process if you are not fully covered. Medicare will pay for most of your bills, but not always all of them. That’s why you may need additional coverage.

I have heard many horror stories about people who fell into debt because they thought they were covered but were actually not. That’s why medicare supplement insurance is so important. It can give you the coverage you need when you need it most. Having the best medicare supplement is crucial if you want to be one of those who are ready for every event.

There is no doubt that it can be very confusing trying to figure out which plan is right for you. That’s why it’s good that there are people who can help explain all the details to you. They can help you find the best medicare supplements that are available. I truly recommend that everyone should look into their current plans and decided whether or not they need additional coverage. I think it’s a good investment as life is short and your health is a key to enjoying it.

Winning the battle

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

There are many things that temp us in our lives. It may be a different thing for each person, but nearly everyone has some kind of temptation or another. My mom has always been tempted by food. No matter how much she tries, she always seems to be unable to resist eating more than she should. This has resulted in her being a little overweight. We have been looking for ways to help her lose the weight she gained.

We all love mom and want her to be healthy. Losing some weight would help her do just that. Her body is a little frail and so it’s hard for her to do a lot of exercise and so we were looking for another way to do it. We decided that weight loss pills might be the answer. It’s a proven effective way to lose weight quickly.

There is nothing too good for my mom and medical attention is no exception. We did some comparisons and shopped around for the best weight loss pills we could find. We finally decided on one that we thought would help her the most. It is working out fine so far and we are all hoping to see further good results. I am sure she will do fine in the future.
