The Wii

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Ever since November 2006, the Nintendo wii has been the best selling gaming unit on the market. Over 70 million units have been sold to date. With top games like Mario and Zelda, it has been a favorite of millions of people. The problem is that it’s sold so many units, its running out of customers. Many have predicted that its reign as top dog will soon end.

Competition from other gaming vendors like Microsoft and Sony has taken a bite out of the Wii market. Personally, I wouldn’t count the Wii out yet as they are planning to add new games this year that are sure to be good sellers. I think the video game world will be playing the Wii for a long time yet.

Love them gift cards!

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I have thought that the invention of the gift card was a great idea. Its ease of purchase in the event that an emergency gift was required made it a useful tool. I have been saved from an embarrassing situation more than once by being able to purchase a quick gift for a forgotten event.

It turns out that there can be drawbacks to this wonderful item. Some cards carry fees that reduce their value over time. Another problem is that many times the cards are never used. When they are used, it’s not uncommon that the buyer ends up spending more money than they thought by using the card! Despite their drawbacks, I still love the gift card!

A Wonderful invention

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

One of the best inventions lately has been the advent of the gift card. I really like how easy it is to purchase one and how much time it saves. Whenever I need to buy a gift for someone, I tend to look at the option of a gift card first. I usually will get one from a local restaurant because I know that everyone likes to eat.

Many times it is difficult to know what kind of gift someone wants. Since I need to buy things for people from time to time, it has become a standard gift for me. I like the quick easy access to them and their versatility. I am glad they invented the gift card!

Bookstore

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Usually I buy my books from the local bookstore instead of going to the public library. I think books are meant to be owned, not borrowed.

Well, to be honest, the bookstore is not all that local – it’s a huge nationwide chain. I mean local in that I just drive down to that shopping center near my house and spend an hour walking around looking at the books. I’ll buy a book based on the author’s or sometimes the title intrigues me. For example, any book by John Grisham is an instant sale. And once I bought a book “For Dummies” just to see what all the fuss was about.
