Advertising our success

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

This was a pretty good week around the office that I work in. Everybody was excited to learn that our numbers were up for the third straight month. Business has really picked up and our employees are very busy and yet very happy. The best part is that we all know the reason why. We started a new advertising campaign about six months ago and the results have been very good. It seems that everyone knows our name and that’s a good thing in this type of industry.

We do have a couple of people to thank for all this success. The first person is me as I am the one who pushed for an increased advertising budget. I knew that it would pay off and it has. I would also like to thank the good folks at the Advertising Agency we picked to do the job. They were very professional as far as knowing what to do and introduced us to some new ideas we hadn’t thought about doing. It’s all going according to plan.

We will have our spring picnic soon and I am sure that we will be doing even more business by then. It will much better than last year as we were certainly struggling to get by. The good news is that our hard work is paying off and the coming year is destined to be one of our best. I am glad for those of us in the company who worked so hard to make this dream come true.

Things that are old

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Every once in a while, people find things that are old that they believe are worth money. Some of these things are valuable and sometimes they are not. It just depends on what the item is and how well it has survived over the years. I had a sewing machine from 1892 that I thought was very valuable. It turned out that it was not.

Other things like comic books and games can be very valuable especially if they are the right kind. Condition is always a concern but in the end there are many things worth money. The moral of the story is that you need to check the worth of an old item before you throw it out.

New on the Field

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Thanks to Darwin Barton

The baseball fields were slammed on a spring Saturday morning. The moms were gathering in regular fashion with packed coolers ready to watch the tournaments all day. It was a gorgeous day and a great time to catch up with my “mom” friends. We had a new mom in the group who was new to the area as well. I quickly befriended her and learned her move had not been a simple one and now that she had settled in, she was ready to get some advice on the things she could change. One of which was her electricity provider. The customer support she had been receiving was less than acceptable and many of us moms suggested she log onto www.texaselectricityproviders.com/ and check out the options available in our region of Texas. Most of us had been in the area for quite some time and was happy to offer advice to any new comers while relaxing at the ball fields. I think she left there feeling much better her options but not much better about our team who lost.

Slippers

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Life is an unending story. It does have a few exceptions though. One exception is my slippers. They have seen better days and need to be replaced. One has a hole in it and the other is falling apart. They must have a particular smell as even my dog won’t chew them anymore.

I went to the internet to find another pair. Shopping for slippers is not a lot of fun, but it needed to be done. I found a pair I liked and ordered them right away. I wish everything was so easy.

Plumbing woes

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

I found out the other day that the drain under my kitchen sink was leaking. While the problem was more like a slow drip than a leak, I was still concerned. I went to the local hardware store to find a solution. I was glad that I ran into a salesperson that knew what I was talking about.

The salesperson helped me find the replacement parts I needed. I took them home and found that it was easy to install. The problem is now fixed and I am grateful that at least there are a few people who know what they are talking about.
