Doing what you love

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Sometimes in life, we must accept the inevitable. This is especially true with my cousin chip. While he is truly a great guy, he is not what you would call physically gifted. In fact, he is a bit ungainly when it comes to physical activity. That’s why there are some areas where I believe he will not be able to find a job. The good news is that he is very smart and has the attention to detail that is needed for the career he wants to pursue.

He wants to become a tax preparer. I think that this is a job that is ideally suited for him. He will be able to do most of the work from home and will not have to strain himself physically. He will be able to use his mind in order to do his job. I also happen to know that this is something that he wants to do. I think this will be good for him.

Another good aspect of this potential job is that he can learn everything he needs to know online. There are websites that offer the courses needed so that he can get a tax preparer certification. He will have access to study guides and will also be able to take practice exams. I know that my cousin will be alright and will have a gr4eat future doing what he loves. That’s always a good thing.

Beefing Up the Credentials

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Sometimes you just top out at your job, no matter how long you’ve worked for the company and no matter how good you are at your job. At some point, the HR people need credentials to justify giving you a promotion or significant raise. The hard part is finding a way to beef up the credentials while you are still working. That’s why I’m checking into Online Colleges to get my degree. I still need 6 hours to finish up and I’m just going to have to find a way to do that.

I need a college that offers online degree programs in business and then I need to find some financial aid to make it happen. I have been looking at grants and loan programs online, and am not sure which is the best way to go.

The Government has a good web site with some student loan information. I found a free application for Federal student aid http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and I think there might be a way to get my company to match some of the money with their tuition reimbursement program. There are even programs at the state level because of the lottery money that has been coming in. In fact, making the proceeds available to education was one of the requirements that state had when they approved having the lottery here in the first place.

Longer school years

Monday, September 27th, 2010

One thing that president Obama has been talking about recently was the fact that American students have been falling behind the rest of the world in math and science. He has recommended that we as a nation lengthen our school years to match those of other countries. He believes this will help our children better their grades.

Teachers are also a big issue in the news. The president wants to get rid of teachers who are performing badly. He wants better training and an awards system for teachers as an incentive. I think our children are well worth investing in and I believe the president is correct on this issue.

Education is the key

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

One thing that is for sure about life is that it’s hard to get ahead. The good news is that by building a solid foundation of Education, you can ensure that you will have a leg up on everybody else. I have always felt that it’s important to ensure that all the members of my family receive the best education they can get. That’s why I was helping my cousin Joe find the answer to his education problem.

Joe never did all that well in school when he was young. He is much older now and wants to improve his job outlook. Since it’s never too late for school, I did some research on the subject. I found a pretty good site called The Chronicle. It had a lot of useful information that helped me with my search. It led me to want to find out more about Joe’s school options.

I considered everything I know about Joe and where he was at in his life. I thought that I would mention to him a place called Walden University. I believed that it could be the answer to his problems. I think Joe is serious about extending his knowledge and this school is just what he needs. I’ll be glad to know I could help Joe when he needed it.

By the numbers

School is a major part of everybody’s life. In many respects, it is one of the most important. The things you learn at school will help you for the rest of your life. Having a good foundation in math will serve you well throughout your career. That’s why I wanted to help when my daughter said she was having some trouble answering Math Questions. I knew I had to find a way to help.

The internet has a lot of information on math subjects. The problem was finding exactly what you needed. I was glad when I saw a site called tutornext.com. They provide answers and help to people when they need it for a small fee. The service is online so it is easy to use and convenient. They have professionals who help with subjects such as Prime numbers or Linear Equations. I was impressed with the site.

My daughter is now a lot happier. She can take advantage of the tutoring anytime she wants. She is much more confident at school and her grades are rising fast. She even told some of her friends at school and they are using it too. I’m glad for her and thankful for the knowledge that she will have a good foundation to build her life around.
